Yves Saint Laurent Colorful Enamel Gold Limited Edition Necklace YSL, 1970s

$650

Although Yves Saint Laurent was very outspoken about his commitment to making fashion accessible and easy to wear for all women, he undoubtedly had a clever way of injecting the one thing every high-fashion label needs…exclusivity. Through his limited-edition jewelry pieces in the 1970s, Saint Laurent reinvigorated the mystique of the house.

From one of these limited run sets, this YSL necklace is made with five plaques set with enamel. Two of the square shaped plaques are set with a goldenrod enamel while the other two are set with a pine green. The center octagon plaque displays a rich pomegranate color that warmly works off of the other colors of enamel featured. Set in a gold setting with a sunburst engraving on the back, the centre plaque is marked with the YSL signature and as piece 220 of 500.

Measurements:

Length: 21 inches (at the longest length, can be made shorter)

Pendants: 7 inches altogether in length

Center red pendant is: 2.5 x 2.5 inches

The squares are a little over 1x1 inch

Strung on a black cord, this necklace has some adjustability. A rare collectors’ item, it is in very good condition with some light wear to the enamel and a slight patina on the gold metal setting. High-quality vintage pieces like this are yours to live in and love while increasing in value every year. It’s never too soon to start collecting them, as an investment in your wardrobe—and in yourself.
