Vintage Christian Dior Haute Couture 1971 Silk Taffeta Dress No155429 Documented
A long-lasting icon of Haute Couture, Christian Dior designed from 1947 until his death in 1957. Shortly after his passing, the brilliant Marc Bohan was promoted to head designer for the French fashion house. As evidenced in this magnificent and documented numbered gown, Bohan continued Dior’s striking approach to dresses. In Dior’s words, “a dress is a piece of ephemeral architecture, designed to enhance the portions of the female body.”
Featured on Elsa Peretti in Harpers Bazaar, September 1971, this timeless silhouette personifies just that. Its hand-finished exterior is constructed from luxurious black brushed silk taffeta with canary yellow stripes while the interior is fully lined in black silk chiffon. Below the hem peaks a flirty pleated petticoat silk dust ruffle. It has a metal black zipper on the back, includes hook and eye closures inside the waistline, and zip closures at the ends of the sleeves. With its limited production and elegant design, this dress will not dissapoint. This vintage designer Christian Dior 155429 numbered dress is in excellent condition.
