Valentino Red Suede Pop Art Statement Belt, 2016

 Maria Grazia Chiuri is one of the designers of the decade. Her imaginative designs convey a sense of wonder, artistic opulence, and balance. Her creative direction of Valentino in 2016 reinvigorated the classic stylings of the luxury house and through the custom print and pattern work evoked a combination of “local and global” tastes. Originally retailing for over $2,300, this belt is exceptionally crafted from a red suede that is cut in a cloud like shape at the front.

The multi-colored decals have all been individually cut and fused to the suede to make the dynamic design. Sage green and gold undulating pieces form the edges of the clouds and lightning bolts, while yellow-orange, white and blue stars pop throughout. Round gold and milky white studs work with the gold foiled elements to add an additional sparkle to the belt. Masterfully conceived, this belt offers a pop-art design that reads as an artisanal crafted design. It can be seen in the images above as part of the Pre-fall 2016 photoshoot.
