Stella McCartney F/W 2004 Champagne Sculptural Show Stopping Puffer Jacket

British fashion designer Stella McCartney is widely considered to be one of modern fashion’s greatest visionaries. She served as the creative director at Chloe for four years and launched her eponymous fashion house in 2001. Over 20 years later, McCartney continues to focus on expanding her brand’s sustainability efforts while creating luxurious designs without the use of leather, feathers, or fur. She was awarded the prestigious CBE by King Charles in 2023, and notably designed Meghan Markle’s wedding reception dress.

Her 2004 F/W collection featured an array of cocoon-like vests, coats, and jackets, silk dresses, and satin skirts paired with canvas and rubber heels. As featured as looks #5 and #48 on that season’s runway, this pale champagne jacket is a show-stopper. Done in a silky material that has a nice sheen, this sculptural beauty is a sophisticated take on a classic winter puffer jacket.

The design begins with a wide shawl collar that cocoons around the neck. Three-quarter-length dolman sleeves fan out away from the body, creating an Avant-Garde, fortune cookie-shaped silhouette. The bodice is fitted and tapered at the waist while the asymmetric hem falls just above the hips at the front and curves past them in the back for an unexpected twist.
