Basha Gold
Saint Laurent Black and Gold Crepe Sash Dress Runway YSL, 1986
$0
Filled with glitz, glamour, and gold, the 1980s was an era of vivacity and energy, and as usual, Yves Saint Laurent was able to capture the moment and channel it into effortlessly elegant garments. From his Fall/Winter 1986 collection this two-toned dress is made from a black crepe with portions made from crepe and lamé. The two halves of the bodice meet at bust level with a V-neckline.
The soft drape of the fabric creates small all-in-one sleeves while smoothly caressing the body. At the waist a detachable gold belt and sash add shape and dimension to the dress. The skirt portion of the dress is lightly gathered at the waist seam and has a light fit-and-flare silhouette as it falls to its ankle length hem.
Sophisticated and extravagant, the dress is an exquisite evening option and can be beautifully styled with the YSL Marrakesh Serpent earrings (available in another listing). This dress can be seen in the featured images as part of the campaign shoot and that season’s runway.
