Roberto Cavalli s/s 2011 Leather Macrame Feather Beads Fringe Vest

A gorgeous buttery soft fawn leather is exquisitely knotted to make this stunning macramé vest by Roberto Cavalli. Part of the Florentine designer’s 40th anniversary collection—“with the whipstitching, lacing, and patchworking reaching new heights,” according to Vogue’s Tim Blanks—the spring/summer 2011 piece captures the free spirit of the Sixties through the lens of luxury. Hand-crafted to form a trio of barely there panels, the vest reveals and conceals for maximum sex appeal.

A plunging neckline meets at the décolletage and then reverses course to bare the torso. Low-cut armholes expose the rib cage. And a cropped racerback heightens the beauty of the shoulders and the small of the back. Even the vest itself shows a hint of what’s beneath, with diamond open work throughout. But perhaps the most striking of all is the incredible embellished and braided fringe that falls from the trim and moves with the wearer. Whether you layer this over a bikini, tank top or bohemian gown, you will be donning a treasure created to turn any outfit up a notch.
