Prada Red Silk Bolero Bra Top, 2009
Described by designer Miuccia Prada as “primitive” the Prada Spring 2009 collection spoke to a sense of basics. Reimagining the clothing of prehistory, Prada took the concept of simple bodily coverage and made it high-fashion. Done in an exquisite cranberry silk-metal-poly-blend faille, the fabric has been manipulated to have a light crush throughout.
Cat’s-eye padded bra cups are the focus of this top transitioning into an off-the-shoulder bolero with a thin collar that beautifully frames the wearer’s décolletage. An adjustable halter harness and a cased elastic waist strap help secure the top while adding a bit more dimension to this piece. The sleeves can be rolled to be worn as seen on look #3 from the 2009 runway.
Size estimate: Small
Sleeves: 18 inches
Bust: 32 inches
A hook-and-eye and black ribbon tie closure secure the cups at centre front. Finished on the inside with bound seams, this top is in excellent condition and has been professionally eco dry cleaned and pressed. High-quality vintage pieces like this are yours to live in and love while increasing in value every year. It’s never too soon to start collecting them, as an investment in your wardrobe—and in yourself.
