Nina Ricci Yellow Silk Organza Sleeveless Evening Dress, 2009
The house’s namesake, Nina Ricci, and her son founded the house in 1932. Having previously been a member of the esteemed Chambre Syndicale, Nina Ricci designs imbue a romantic sophistication and a commitment to elegance in line with true Haute Couture fashion. Under the direction of Olivier Theyskens, the resort 2009 collection took the mature class of the brand and remixed it with a modern, flirty flair.
Made from a delicate lemon-chiffon silk voile, this dress offers a soft trumpet silhouette with two-toned layered flounce details accenting the shoulders and spiraling from waist to the undulating asymmetrical hem underscoring the femininity of the design.
Adding to the charm of this dress, picot stitching creates the hems and vertical lines that sweep across the dress in the style of vintage lingerie. Light and ethereal, this dress is a testament of quality and luxury and makes for a graceful spring or summer engagement. It can be seen to the left in a photo from the official Resort 2009 photoshoot.
