Basha Gold
Missoni Multicolored Gold Metallic Lurex Print Top Skirt Set, 1970s
Vibrant and visually rhythmic patterns frequent Missoni garments. Coupling this with the interest created from utilizing delicate, light weight fabrics, and their mastery of knit fabrics, such a design aesthetic gained the Italian brand extensive amount of international recognition from high profile fashion influencers and Diana Vreeland, then editor of American Vogue.
This 1970s knit ensemble incorporates a squiggle design of deep forest green, orange umber, red violet, and dusty blue on an antiqued golden ground. The blouse is very relaxed with a loose fit throughout the bodice and V-cut neckline. It features long bishop sleeves that end in a wide ribbed cuff.
This same ribbing binds the V-neck in the overlapping style and is highlighted at the waist in a think waistband that creates a blousing of the bodice at the high-waist while cinching the body as the top transitions to the skirt. At full maxi length, the skirt is fluted due to the fullness and lightness of the fabric ending in a lettuce edge hem. The jovial pattern runs diagonally across the ensemble that match the undulations of the skirt allowing for a soft optical motion.
