Malcolm Starr Green Geometric Print Chiffon Pink Sash Dress, 1960s
Malcolm Starr was launched in the early 1960s as a dress line that features simple, easy-to-wear dresses. While the 1960s is famously painted as the Space Age decade, Malcolm Starr dresses showcase to other side of 60s style, one that is characterized by vivacity, optimism, and playful colors.
Designed for Starr by Elinor Simmons, this 60s dress is done in a clover green silk chiffon with a rectangular print with geometric patterns of yellow-orange and magenta. A low V-neck ends just at bust level with the illusion of a surplice before moving into a hot pink obi-inspired sash at the high waist.
The sash accentuates the mid-body as the dress falls into an ankle-length, flounced A-line silhouette that mimics the angel sleeves. Light and vibrant, this dress can be worn as an evening look, for a daytime occasion of the same caliber, or simply as a bold, airy spring/summer outfit.
Measurements:
Bust: 32 inches
Waist: 26 inches
Hips: 36 inches
Length: 54/55 inches
At centre back this dress closes with a centered zip up until the mid-back and then transitions to a keyhole opening that fastens with a hook and eye at the neck. The dress is lined with a nude lingerie mesh at the bust and a matching green silk under the skirt.
In excellent condition, this dress has been professionally eco dry cleaned and pressed. High-quality vintage pieces like this are yours to live in and love while increasing in value every year. It’s never too soon to start collecting them, as an investment in your wardrobe—and in yourself.
