Basha Gold
Louis Vuitton by Marc Jacobs Spring 2005 Runway Brocade Sequin Jacket
A standout Louis Vuitton Spring/Summer 2005 runway jacket by Marc Jacobs, documented as Look 21 and later photographed on Gemma Ward for the cover of Vogue Nippon.
The Spring 2005 collection was one of Jacobs’ most exuberant for Louis Vuitton, drawing on 1940s circus imagery, vintage clothing and his fascination with creating unexpected “hybrids.” Bold florals, sharp retro tailoring, sequins, metallic trims and contrasting fabrics were mixed together in a deliberately eclectic way.
The collection also introduced Takashi Murakami’s now-iconic Cherry Monogram bags, among the most coveted and collectible accessories of the Marc Jacobs era, making Spring 2005 a particularly memorable chapter in Louis Vuitton history.
This jacket captures that vision with its fitted waist, flared peplum, vivid red and fuchsia floral brocades, metallic silver trim, cobalt sequin accents and oversized decorative buttons.
An exceptional collector’s piece from the height of the Marc Jacobs era at Louis Vuitton, with both runway and Vogue cover provenance.
