Lanvin Alber Elbaz Embellished Black Felt Hat, 2015

The house of Lanvin has a rich heritage of creating fashions for the woman on the move who also wants to turn a few heads along the way. The house evokes a sense of refined and tailored glamour. In 2015, creative director Alber Elbaz took this tried-and-true aesthetic and incorporated a layer of artisanal Moroccan inspirations and motifs that proved to be a masterful collection.

On a deep black wool felt, this hat has been embellished with beads and sequins to create a three-dimensional floral artwork. Green, pewter, and sage toned beads outline leaves as clusters of white sequins have been applied to form the petals of daisies. An array of translucent blue and gunmetal elongated sequins sweeps across the crown of the hat like the plume of an exotic bird.

The domed crown of the hat displays the whimsy of the beadwork well as it moves fluidly to the smooth asymmetric swoop of the brim. Expertly crafted, this hat could round out a classy evening look or be paired with an ensemble that has a more boho vibe. It can be seen in the featured images as look #51 from that season’s runway.

Size: Medium / 58 EU/ 7 1/4 US

Measurements: 22.8 inches

The interior of the hat is finished with a grosgrain ribbon sweatband. This hat is in excellent condition with the original tags still attached. High-quality vintage pieces like this are yours to live in and love while increasing in value every year. It’s never too soon to start collecting them, as an investment in your wardrobe—and in yourself.
