John Galliano is notable for his zany designs. From mixing wild prints in unconventional ways to garments made out of sheer parody, Galliano undoubtedly maintains his position through his one-of-a-kind creativity and truly new aesthetics. From one of his early 2000s collections that were a theatrical play on steampunk and several other aesthetics, this fit-and-flare leopard print skirt speaks of a 1970s mystique.
The camel and dark brown colors in the skirt remain traditional to the animal print idea, but the silhouette re-contextualize it. The seaming and asymmetrical yoke warp the print ever so slightly giving it a visual movement of its own. It sits just below the waist, and is fitted from the hips throughout the knee and flaring thereafter to the hem.
