Basha Gold
Jeanne Marc Seafoam Print Dress Gold Accents, 1980s
Jeanne Marc was a relatively short-lived but highly coveted fashion brand launched by San Francisco husband and wife duo Jeanne Allen and Marc Grant. Rising to popularity in the 1980s for their vibrantly colored appliqued jackets, Jeanne Marc was equally desired for their dresses made from luxury fabrics with custom printed design.
This 1980s dress is made from a seafoam poly-rayon blend with a youthful white leaf print in the background and a paisley print of pale blue, pink, and coral. A mix of silhouettes keeps this dress interesting. A soft V-neckline and broad padded shoulders loosely gather into the gold shirred waistband that creates some contrast while shaping the body.
A full gathered skirt accented by vertical rows of flounces adds a folksy vibe. The flounces are edged in gold binding that provide additional contrast and dimension in the skirt mimicking the waistband, the neckline, and flounces on the sleeves. The Jeanne-Marc dress is both muted and full of pizazz making it a great vintage option for a comfy day dress or for a casual evening occasion.
