Issey Miyake Emerald Green Runway Dress Spring 2008
Japanese designer, Issey Miyake, experiments with form and designs with a sense of architecture. Special attention to the fabrics and materials used allow Miyake to create spectacular garments that rely upon unique volumes and textures.
From his Spring 2008 collection, this emerald green dress is made from a micro-pleated polyester. The garment then incorporates larger folds and tucks in order to create a faceted look that makes this dress appear to be a wearable gem stone. The folds affect how light hits the dress, causing the dress have perfectly coordinated shadows which makes the pleated facets take on a mesmerizing dimensionality.
With button closures in the back, the dress can be fitted defining the waist in this otherwise tunic-silhouette dress. A large collar and full-length hemline set the mood for this regal Miyake dress. It can be seen in the photos to the left on the 2008 runway paired with a matching skirt.
