Galanos Couture Strapless Lace Gown with Flower Hem, 1990s
James Galanos was a jack-of-all-trades in the world of American fashion. With the talent to create a range of designs from casual to couture, Galanos played a tremendous role in establishing American style as both effortless and elegant. As a testament to his prowess, this 1990s strapless dress is done in a black floral lace with white embroidered details.
The lace is underlined in a light mocha silk that gives the dress a warmer tone. The edges of the neckline have been bound in a black satin that accents the soft curve that sinks into a Y-shape at centre front. The impeccably tailored bodice features interior boning that allows for a comfortable yet secure fit while resting beautifully on the waist.
From there, the skirt gently shapes around the hips and falls to a moderate A-line hem that has been decadently adorned with black organza flowers. The captivating dress is the perfect balance of classic and extravagant. Easily accessorized, this dress makes for an excellent evening gown for almost any occasion in any season.
