American milliner, Frank Olive, was born in Milwaukee. While studying in Chicago, Olive began honing his craft in the world of costume eventually moving to New York where he gained recognition from Norman Norell, after which Olive began to focus on hat-making eventually landing him high profile clientele with major designers and celebrities such as Oscar de la Renta and Diana Ross.
Claiming that “hats are an essential part of being a woman”, this rainbow sunhat showcases a fun and colorful woman. Made from a finely coiled rattan this sun hat has a wide brim that funnels up into a circular brim as the colors shift from a thin rim of yellow, to a majestic purple, Kelly green, to a coral, followed by a robin’s egg blue to a vivid red and again to yellow.
