Fendi Yellow Silk Sequins Tulle Dress + Petticoat Set Runway 2008
Fendi’s aesthetic can easily be described as experimental. Constantly changing and evolving, Fendi truly captures the meaning of unexpected. Incorporating stark hues and geometric silhouettes, the Spring 2008 collection by Fendi offered an artistic elision of modern femininity and Italian futurism that speak to then creative director, Karl Lagerfeld’s, reimagination of art.
This three-piece party dress is comprised of a mini dress and two silk, fine-mesh tulle petticoats. Done in a marigold silk, the dress has a soft luster that is enhanced by overlays of silver lace embellished with copper, emerald, red, black, and gold sequins. The dress offers a youthful vibe as the straight neckline is reverberated in a series of horizontal pintucks that create rhythmic rings around the body.
The festive A-line skirt creates elegant flounces and ends at thigh level with a bit of a tulle hem detail. One of the tulle petticoats is a simple ankle-length, straight, three-tier skirt that sits at the waist with a wide nude waistband. The second is pale yellow and offers more volume ending at knee level.
When working together, these three garments create a beautifully tiered gown with an eye-catching shape. Of course, the over dress can be styled alone, with both, or just one of the petticoats making this Fendi set a versatile and dynamic wardrobe addition. It can be seen in the featured images as look #24 from that season’s runway.
