Christian Dior Abstract Stripe Coat Dress Runway Fall, 2015
Departing from the wasp-waisted, heavily constructed silhouette that the House of Dior is iconic for, designer Raf Simmons brings a softer definition to tailoring to the table with the Fall 2015 collection. Still with impeccable tailoring and a defined waist, this black wool coat dress is accented with four perfectly matched stripes, three of copper and one of contrasting rose quartz, that are textured differently that the rest of the coat.
High set sleeves herald back to Victorian tailoring, as a concave feature in the front overlap brings a contemporary feel to the organic curved features of the coat. Fitted with almost invisible seaming, this Dior coat dress represents a pinnacle of tailored craftsmanship and minimalism. A mid-thigh hemline completes the mystique of this garment creating a story of freedom, formality, and femininity. This exquisite piece can be seen in the images to the left as look #40 from that season’s runway.
