Chloé Karl Lagerfeld Cubist Green Silk Print Sleeveless Dress, 1970s

$1,650

The house of Chloé has undergone various aesthetic transformations throughout the decades. Typically associated with classic silhouettes and soft, muted colors, the house departed from this tradition in the 1970s by trading soft solids for bold hues and artsy prints that marked the house as a more youthful and modern brand.

From the mid-to-late 70s, this dress is done in a light silk printed with a cubist motif in tones of red, green, blue and black with a speckled finish. The colorful and geometric print makes the dress dynamic and eye-catching.

It begins with a gathered neckline that cuts down to a low scoop back that is attached by two adjustable straps. From the waist, a moderately full bell skirt extends to an ankle-length hem. The fun pattern and the comfortable fit of the dress makes this the ultimate day dress.

Unlined, this dress closes at the side with a centered zip. It is in good condition with some signs of wear near the hem. There is also some spotting only visible on the interior which did not come out upon dry cleaning. Two small holes are also located at the hem but are not visible during wear due to the skirt’s fullness. If desired, the dress could be shorted slightly to remove this defect.
