Chloé by Stella McCartney Beige Silk Wood Horse Button Skirt Suit, Runway 2001
Stella McCartney’s designs are noted for their simple elegance that at time bring in quirky elements to add a degree of fun. McCartney as a designer plays with proportion and line in order to achieve some stunning effects even through a simple garment. From the Chloé 2001 spring collection, this Stella McCartney beige skirt suit is emblematic of her prowess for a refined aesthetic with pops of detail.
Done in silk in a weave to resemble linen, this overall silhouette of the suit is done in the style of the mid-late 1930s. The jacket has a softly sculpted fit throughout the torso and a soft shoulder. The soft collar is created by an interesting combination of a high neckline and a roll. This softness evokes a feminine feel that moves into the scalloped centre front closure of the jacket where 5 decorative wooden buttons are place carved in the likeness of horses.
The bias-cut skirt sits promptly at the waist with a crème grosgrain waistband and falls delicately to a fluted hem at mid-calf. This Chloé skirt suit offers an aura of flirty sophistication in a historic silhouette. Reference image #14, from Vogue features the suit in the runway show look #30.
