Chloé Boteh Dress High Neck Lace Inset, 1981

$0

Karl Lagerfeld opened the 1980s at Chloe with a return to the traditional. As the house began to shift its direction to designing for the career woman, Lagerfeld paralleled this shift with an ode to a folksy femininity and a demure yet decadent line.

From the Summer 1981 line, this dress is made from a silk crepe de chine with a muted paisley print in muted tones of brick red, moss green, teal, and buff. The dress features a dainty, ivory lace high collar that is inset into a rounded V-neckline. The lace extends over the dropped shoulder finishing in a zigzag.

Through the bodice, the dress has a relaxed fit and is lightly pleated at the waist. From there a heavily pleated skirt falls to a thigh length. The heavy pleating and the warm tones of the prints create a mesmerizing effect. Loose sleeves complete this garment offering a vintage and folk aesthetic.

Full or traditional textures and a demure silhouette, this dress is an excellent pastiche piece that is a comfortable and lightweight option for a day out or for a semi-formal occasion.
