Chanel Silver Leather Cropped Vest, 1990s
Chanel is defined by a few key silhouettes and signature styles. However, the late designer, Karl Lagerfeld, redefined these iconic, codified Chanel staples. With neon faux furs and metallic leathers, the FW 1994 collection added a dimension of material playfulness to the house. Done in a supple lambskin leather, this cropped vest has a consistent silver luster.
Through princess seaming, the vest is fit exceptionally well accentuating the bust and waist. Rounded details such as the neckline and front placket give it a 1960s essence. Finishing at waist level, two large patch pockets complete this design for a high-fashion/utility look. Above, this vest can be seen as part of an ensemble on model Stephanie Seymour, photographed by Steven Meisel.
Bust: 34 inches
Length: 17 inches
The vest closes down centre front with a simple closure of six round, gold accented CC logoed buttons and beautifully set bound-buttonholes. Fully lined in black silk, this 90s Chanel vest is in excellent condition. High-quality vintage pieces like this are yours to live in and love while increasing in value every year. It’s never too soon to start collecting them, as an investment in your wardrobe—and in yourself.
