Chanel Pleated Rainbow Cropped Blouse Top Runway Spring 2014
While Chanel famously proclaimed her garments to be the Ford of fashion, plain and practical, Karl Lagerfeld in later years was certainly not shy about pushing the envelope at times and creating fun and vibrant looks for the house. Inspired by the joyful colors of artists such as Koons, the Spring 2014 collection was an extravaganza of expressive looks.
From this collection, this lightweight silk blouse is horizontally pleated throughout creating neat rows that complement the print of the fabric. In stunning hues of green, yellow, orange, purple, blue, and red, swatches of color appear to be brushed across the white silk creating rainbow gradients throughout.
The neckline is graced with a wide pointed collar that gives this blouse a preppy vibe. From the shoulders, a simple pleated cap sleeve echoes the texture of the blouse. Ending just below the bust, this blouse has a relatively loose fit and is a posh option for a look that needs a burst of color. It can be seen in the featured images as look #81 from that season’s runway.
