Chanel Black Silk White Mohair Embellished Slip Dress Runway, 1997
It was a year of black and white for the house of Chanel in 1997. The classic silhouettes graced the runway unfettered by complicated design or a complex color palette. The Fall Winter RTW collection exemplified the design style that put Chanel on the map from the boxy tweed jacket to the stylish LBD. From that collection, this slip dress is done in a velvety black silk with a latticed black and white wool mohair bodice with ribbon-like plexi embellishments.
The high, empire waist of the dress allows for a beautiful accentuation of the body. A thinning yet hourglass silhouette is given off showcasing the wearer’s curves in a flattering way. From the mid-thigh where the underlining ends, the sheer black forms a window around the legs in a softly fluted manner giving off just the right amount of added sexiness. Perfect for cocktails or an evening occasion, this LBD makes for a timeless addition to your wardrobe. It can be seen in the images to the left on the 1997 runway.
