Bottega Veneta Vintage Red Butterfly Print Wood Frame Clutch
Butterflies signal love, grace, time, and transformation. Bottega Veneta, which was started during the mid-1960s in Vicenza, has always evoked the energy and style of the Veneto, making this quiet creature an apt muse for its brand. Known for fine craftsmanship and attention to detail, Bottega Veneta’s wood-framed clutch features a flutter of butterflies over a vermillion red surface. The butterflies are created with a discharge print process, where a bleach-like liquid is printed in a butterfly pattern over the red-dyed fabric, removing the red dye and leaving white butterflies.
This fabric has then been overprinted with yellow, pink, blue and a touch of metallic gold to give the wings an iridescent glint. The wood frame, which is finished with light stain, has rounded edges and brass interior hinges. The seamless fabric has been expertly gathered up into the mouth of the frame, which is finished on the interior with a stiffened fabric-covered backing. This lovely clutch plays beautifully with a flowing maxi dress or crisp style lines.
