Bob Mackie Art Deco Gold Black Beaded Jacket, 1980s

$0

Designer to the star, Bob Mackie’s designs are easily some of the most exuberant and show-stopping pieces. Having spent much time working in Hollywood for notable designers such as Edith Head and designing for starlets, Mackie was also no stranger to bringing the dream alive for the everyday woman. Having earned a CFDA Lifetime Achievement award in 2019, Mackie is still revered as one of the most influential modern designers.

Presumably from the 1980s, this silk Bob Mackie jacket is ornately beaded in an Art Deco style. Gold and black beads form a herringbone pattern across the jacket glittering in the light. The jacket drapes across the front of the body in a Y-shaped opening down to a high-low hem at the mid-thigh and swings around to full back.

Long sleeves and end with the bead detail sewn in a contrasting direction to give the impression of a more substantial cuff. Undoubtedly this jacket will turn heads! It can be styled to add an extra impact with an LBD or a matching jumpsuit.

Size estimate: S/M

Measurements:

Shoulders: 16 inches

Sleeves: 21 inches

Bust: 36 inches

Waist: up to 40 inches

Length: 33 inches front 36 inches back

There are no closures to this jacket and it simply drapes down the body. It is fully lined in a black silk and is in excellent condition. Due to the heavy beading of this jacket it is recommended that it be stored flat if possible or on an adequately padded hanger. High-quality vintage pieces like this are yours to live in and love while increasing in value every year. It’s never too soon to start collecting them, as an investment in your wardrobe—and in yourself.
