Bill Blass Metallic Brocade Jacket, 1990s
One of the most iconic American designers, Bill Blass is internationally acclaimed for his tailored, feminine styles. Having worked from the 50s onward, Blass’ fashions defined a space of luxury for the everyday woman. Drawing from Eastern textiles as inspiration, this brocade jacket from Blass’ Fall 1990 collection glitters with swirling metallic hues of gold, midnight blue, vermillion, and patina green.
A ballet neckline moves into a classic tailored shoulder with set sleeves. Finishing at about hip level, the defined shoulder and hemline work to make the waist appear smaller giving a perfect hourglass silhouette. Four faux-pocket flaps at the waist and upper bust provide an additional tailored mood.
