Balenciaga Ruffled Printed Black Silk Crepe De Chine Midi Dress Resort 2019
Hailed as “the master of us all” by Christian Dior, Cristóbal Balenciaga was known for his masterful skill with fabric and graceful garments which radically influenced the silhouette of women’s fashions. Some of his most notable designs include the balloon jacket, high waisted baby doll dress, and sack dress, which are still easily recognizable to this day.
Though known for his popular oversized streetwear aesthetic, creative director Demna Gvasalia returned to haute couture tailoring done to perfection for his 2019 Resort collection, which drew upon classic Balenciaga shapes.
From that collection, this midi dress features a print of the Balenciaga logo in rainbow hues, a riff on a popular style that season which was featured on everything from boots to handbags. Made in France, the dress is done in a black silk-crepe and has an oversized fit that feels effortlessly chic.
