1990s Chanel Silk Gripoix CC Logo Print Heels Vintage

$750

As early as the 1920s, Coco Chanel was keenly interested in Byzantine jewelry as an accessory to contemporary fashion. The obvious limitations in acquiring ancient pieces prompted her to approach the French jewelry House of Gripoix and ask if they could create replicas. The Gripoix family had been highly skilled in creating bijouterie, or costume jewelry, since the late 19th century. However, their work with Chanel helped elevate the status of reproductions to smart and chic.

While these 1990s era silk Chanel pumps were designed 20 years after her death, they pay homage to Coco’s early fondness for show-stopping accessories. The large scale of the screen-printed design wraps the pump gracefully, accentuating the classic slope of the 3” heel. The gold metallized leather interiors are indicative of Chanel, where all details are attended to with care. The exceptional condition of these shoes is of particular note; vintage shoes are often hampered by wear. These sprite and snappy heels coordinate beautifully with everything from denim to silk charmeuse.

Size 35.5

Heel height: 3 inches

These silk Chanel pumps from the 1990s are in excellent vintage condition, with minimal wear to the leather soles. The main feature of these classically cut pumps is the silk screenprint design, which celebrates Coco Chanel’s legendary use of accessories in ensemble creation. The print illustrates the Byzantine inspired bijouterie that she commissioned from the House of Gripoix in the 1920s.

Chanel’s logo is incorporated into overlapping gold chains and jewels. A metallized leather interior provides an additional touch of luxury. High-quality vintage pieces like this are yours to live in and love while increasing in value every year. It’s never too soon to start collecting them, as an investment in your wardrobe—and in yourself.
