1970s Yves Saint Laurent Leopard Animal Print Hat YSL
Animal prints are a classic fashion print cycling in and out of style. Nonetheless, the sheer flamboyance of the motifs makes them a challenge for most designers year after year. As with many challenges, Yves Saint Laurent skillfully incorporated small accents to full garments made from leopard print in the 1960s and in 1986.
From a circa 1960s collection, this homburg style hat is made in a soft colored leopard print felt. The hatband is made from a black leather strap with gold hardware that peeks from behind the brim. A traditional design with an unconventional print gives this hat a certain feminine vibe that is very on trend today. Mix this hat with a sleek contoured look or a chic valley-girl ensemble for a bold update.
Front to back inside hat: 7 1/2 inches
Inner circumference: 21/ 22 inches
In the interior and atop the brim only a camel felt is visible. The interior is lined with an umber sweatband done in a grosgrain ribbon. It is in excellent condition. High-quality vintage pieces like this are yours to live in and love while increasing in value every year. It’s never too soon to start collecting them, as an investment in your wardrobe—and in yourself.
