1970s Yves Saint Laurent Chinese Quilted Red Satin Jacket YSL

$0

Yves Saint Laurent translated the world into the language of French Fashion. From the Africa, to Russia, to China, the acclaimed designer produced fantastical collections influenced by these remarkable cultures. Alongside the launch of his legendary fragrance Opium YSL showcased his China collection during the Fall/Winter runways in 1977.

Done in a vibrant red quilted satin, the color heavily associated with good fortune in Chinese culture, this jacket is trimmed in burgundy that creates a thick piping appearance. With wide sleeves, and a slightly oversized fit, the jacket cocoons the body in its deep, mesmerizing red fabric. The burgundy trim travels closely around the neck down to the mid-hip hem. Simply by design, this jacket certainly bound to make an impact in any wardrobe. It can be worn perfectly as a light jacket or to accentuate a stunning evening look. It can be seen above in a photograph from the 1977 runway.
