Rodarte Watercolor Jacket Runway Spring, 2008

The Rodarte look tends to have a certain historical romanticism. The designs are either hyper feminine and demure or vibrant and ostentatious. The brand’s founders’ extensive knowledge of art and literature allows them to inject these elements into each collection which has allowed for Rodarte pieces to be exhibited in various museums across the country. Having taken a less traditional approach inspired by Japan, the 2008 collection was a midway between the elegant and extreme.

Created from a rose gold sateen, this jacket appears to have a paint-pour design slowly running across it. Warm tones of gold, crimson, and burnt orange are accented by marbled shades of lilac that imply a canyon or sunset scene in an abstract way.

An atypical squiggle lapel plunging down the center giving to the liquid quality of the textile design. With a generally oversized silhouette, the long sleeves are intended to be scrunched up further adding to the illusion of this jacket. This jacket tells the story of beautiful masterpiece being made and can be seen as look number 20 on the 2008 runway.

Slits are positioned to either side of the jacket and at the waist, there are two large welted pockets. There are no closures, so it can be worn as is, belted, or possibly the buttons of your liking can be added. Fully lined in a translucent poly cellophane, you are able to see the interior and excellent construction of this jacket.
