Vintage Silk Shibori Garnet Red Orange Floral Japanese Kimono Jacket Top

$0

The michiyuki jacket is typically worn atop the traditional Japanese kimono. Shorter in appearance, it can be considered as the eastern equivalent to a bolero thus making it an exquisite garment for an East-meets-West style combination. Exquisitely done in a striking scarlet red, this vintage michiyuki jacket was created using an artisanal dying technique known as shibori.

The shibori process gives the dyed silk additional texture and a more unique hand. A small orange square pattern works with the sharp red to create a mesmerizing floral motif that sweeps across the jacket’s already regal maze pattern. With full, draping sleeves, the jacket is balanced by its mid-thigh hemline and deep squared neck.

Size estimate: One size fits most

Sleeves: 23 inches (measured from the neckline)

Bust, waist, hips: 44 inches

Length: 31

Not only is the exterior beautifully done, the jacket is lined with a masterfully done printed habotai. The white lining boasts spectral traces of orange florals that beautifully compliment the jacket fabric. From the neckline at the center, the jacket can be closed with the hidden snap placket which is marked with decorative silk-covered buttons on the outside, and a concealed pocket on the interior.

Professionally cleaned and pressed, this vintage michiyuki jacket is in excellent condition and can accommodate a variety of sizes. High-quality vintage pieces like this are yours to live in and love while increasing in value every year. It’s never too soon to start collecting them, as an investment in your wardrobe—and in yourself.
